We currently work closely to provide FREE orthotic care through our clinic, Pediatric Orthotic Services in Negril, Jamaica.
Patients arrive at our clinic and are assessed to determine the most appropriate care by reusing and customizing pediatric bracing which has been donated by families in the USA.
Our goals are to provide complete evaluation, customized fitting, AFO socks and depth shoes for every patient during their visit to our clinic. We want every family to leave the clinic with the knowledge and bracing needed to begin making real progress with their child.
POGO also works to collect, store and distribute orthotic donations to other organizations serving children around the world. In addition to providing material support, POGO works to provide orthotics training to medical staff and caregivers. In the future, we hope to continue to expand our outreach by providing more advanced online and in-person training and care into new communities.
We currently work closely to provide FREE orthotic care at Pediatric Orthotic Services in Negril, Jamaica.
Patients arrive at our clinic and are assessed to determine the most appropriate care by re-using and customizing pediatric bracing which has been used and when out-grown donated by families in the USA.
Our goals are to provide complete evaluation, customized fitting, AFO socks and depth shoes for every patient during their visit to our clinic.
We want each family to have everything they need (guidance, resources, bracing, socks and shoes) to help their child make progress towards independence.
In order to do this work, we need both bracing and funding! We need your used bracing donations AND we need funding for operations and to purchase socks, shoes, knee and elbow immobilizers, strapping, padding, components, rivets, etc.
We greatly appreciate your orthotic donations, and financial support to ensure that
we are able to provide full service to patients in need.
Each patient we treat requires an estimated $20-$80 US in supportive funding. Your financial contribution helps support POGOs mission by assisting to purchase socks, shoes, joints, Velcro, components, shipping, tools/equipment, etc.
We greatly appreciate your financial support as we look to expand our services for current patient care partner clinics and additional clinics around the world.
POGO reuses pediatric orthotic bracing which has been donated by patients in the USA.
Not all used bracing is suited for use with other patients so please contact us to see if your donations might be reusable with other patients.
Please do your best to make sure that any donations that are sent in are in clean and usable condition. If the straps or other easily changeable components are worn out, we will replace those if we can.
Our needs change from time to time, depending on inventory and who we are serving. Our current needs, in order of importance:
1. Hip Bracing - Twister Cables, SWASH bracing, Hip abduction Bracing
2. Knee and elbow splints - Custom and prefabricated splints to help stretch and stabilize knees and elbows
3. Gently used shoes that fit with AFOs- Please wash before sending if possible!
4. Wrist splints
5. AFOs and KAFOs for ambulation which are made into neutral alignment
6. TLSOs- Only TLSOs which are fabricated of flexible material and symmetrical in shape can be reused.
7. SMOs - We need some, but not as many. Most patients we treat are more involved and require full AFOs. Most need more support than the SMOs provide.
ITEMS we cannot use at this time:
1. AFOs or other bracing which has been made into an unusual position ( with deformity on the foot, or severe plantar flexed angles).
2. Night stretching AFOs
3. Walkers, wheelchairs and gait trainers
